We are blessed to have the Philippians Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society at HCA!
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship and helps middle-level students develop the knowledge and skills to become well-rounded student leaders in their school, community, and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does a student qualify for NJHS?
Students will receive an application after sustaining a 3.5 GPA for a full semester (or more) at HCA Middle School. The application will review a student based on our core values of service, leadership, citizenship, and character. The advisory board, made up of teachers, will review the applications and teacher surveys. If the student receives a score of 4.0 or higher on a 5.0 scale, they will receive an invitation to be a member of the Philippians Chapter of NJHS.
How does a student maintain his/her NJHS membership?
Students must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA. They must continue to demonstrate Christ-like character, leadership skills, and a focus on citizenship. Students must accumulate 30 or more hours of community service per school year.
How often does NJHS meet?
The general meetings are once a month on the last Wednesday of the month (unless holidays interfere) from 3:00 to 4:00. Each student will be on a committee that meets whenever they decide (usually at lunch or via text/facetime). Officers will meet once a month at lunch with Mrs. Groom.
What kinds of service projects does NJHS do?
Examples of past projects include:

- Sock drive
- Blanket drive
- Elementary study buddies
- Create and deliver blessing sacks to the homeless
