Welcome to Kindergarten

Known. Loved. Called to Grow.

Kindergarten is a season of remarkable growth. Children build friendships, learn new routines, gain independence, and discover what they can accomplish. At Heritage, caring teachers provide the structure, encouragement, and personal attention that help each child take those steps with confidence.

Our Christ-centered community welcomes families from all backgrounds and faiths. We are grateful to partner with parents as children begin their elementary school journey.

A thoughtful first year

Small class sizes • Personal attention • Fine-motor development • Hands-on learning • Faith woven into every day

You Belong Here
You're seen and appreciated just as you are, in whatever situation you're in. What's special is that it's not only your kids who are known, but your whole family.

The Heritage Difference

Learning for the Whole Child.

Academic foundations matter, and so do friendships, character, curiosity, and a growing sense of belonging.

Academic Discovery

Engaging instruction and hands-on experiences build early reading, writing, and math foundations while encouraging curiosity and a love of learning.

Confidence & Connection

Intentional classroom routines, collaborative activities, and positive encouragement help children grow in independence, kindness, and friendship.

Faith & Character

Faith is woven throughout the school day as children learn about Jesus, develop Christlike character, and discover how to show love and kindness to others.

Starting Kindergarten

More Than a Birthday.

Children grow and develop at different rates. While age helps determine eligibility, it is not the only indicator of kindergarten readiness.

At Heritage, we consider the whole child-including social and emotional development, growing independence, classroom experiences, fine-motor development, and emerging academic skills. We recognize that children arrive with different strengths and opportunities for growth.

We partner with families to understand each child and support a positive transition. Our goal is not to expect children to have mastered every skill before they begin, but to help them continue growing once they are here.

Kindergarten eligibility: Children must turn five by August 31 of the school year they begin kindergarten. We do not offer early entry into kindergarten.

Another Thoughtful Pathway

Considering Kindergarten Bridge?

Some families choose an additional year before kindergarten, even when their child is eligible to begin. Our Kindergarten Bridge preschool program provides an intentional opportunity to build confidence, independence, friendships, and foundational skills.

Kindergarten Bridge is a choice for families who want that extra year-not a requirement based on a child's birthday alone. We welcome conversations about which path best supports your child's growth and your family's goals.

Everyday Learning

Growing in Every Direction.

Children learn through a thoughtful mix of focused instruction, creative exploration, movement, and meaningful relationships.

Early Literacy

Through phonics, stories, reading, and writing activities, children build foundational literacy skills and discover the joy of becoming readers and writers.

Math & Discovery

Hands-on math, science, and discovery invite curiosity, reasoning, and problem-solving.

Specialists & Movement

Physical education, music, STEM/computer lab, library, and daily recess enrich the kindergarten experience.

Individual Growth

Teachers get to know each child, monitor growth, and adjust support and encouragement as skills develop.

Faith at Heritage

Rooted in Christ. Everyone Is Welcome.

Through daily Bible lessons, prayer, weekly chapel, and everyday classroom experiences, children discover what it means to know Jesus and reflect His love in how they learn, play, and treat others.

Our intentional character trait curriculum gives students a biblical trait to explore each month. Guardian Badges and Philippians Awards at chapel offer opportunities to recognize and celebrate Christlike character. We want every child to be known, loved, and called to grow.

Partnering with Families

A Confident Start, Together.

The first weeks of kindergarten are about more than academics. Teachers help children learn classroom routines, build friendships, and feel secure as they become more independent.

Families and teachers work together to encourage growing independence, confidence, and readiness for the classroom, including fine-motor development. Children arrive with different strengths, and we look forward to supporting their continued growth.

Have questions about your child's strengths, kindergarten readiness, or next steps? We're happy to connect. Join us for an in-person campus tour or schedule a 15-minute Zoom conversation with our Admissions team.
